Information We Collect

What Lapser Does Not Collect

Lapser is designed with privacy in mind:

  • No recording data: All screen recordings and timelapses remain completely local on your Mac. We never upload, transmit, or have access to your recordings.
  • No usage tracking: We do not track how you use Lapser or what you record.
  • No analytics: We do not use any analytics services to monitor your behaviour.

What We Do Collect

License Activation: When you activate Lapser with your license key, your license key and email address are verified against our licensing provider, Polar. This data is stored and processed by Polar — see their Privacy Policy for details. We do not independently store or retain this information.

Purchase Information: All purchases are processed by Polar.sh. We do not process or store payment information directly. Upon a completed purchase, Polar sends your license key to your email address on our behalf. We do not retain your email address independently of Polar following this delivery.

Support Communications: If you contact us for support, we collect the information you voluntarily provide, such as your email address, name (if provided), and details about any technical issues.

How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect only for:

  • Verifying your license key and enforcing activation limits
  • Delivering your license key following purchase
  • Providing technical support
  • Improving Lapser based on support feedback

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties, except:

  • Polar.sh — our payment and licensing processor, who handles purchase transactions and license key management according to their own privacy policy
  • When required by law or to protect our legal rights
  • With your explicit consent

Data Retention

  • License and purchase data: Stored and retained by Polar — refer to their Privacy Policy for retention details
  • Support communications: Retained for as long as necessary to provide support and resolve issues, and deleted once no longer needed

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Withdraw consent for communications

EU/EEA users: Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have additional rights including data portability and the right to object to processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@lapser.studio.
